The long-running animated series South Park targeted U.S. President Donald Trump and his perceived ties to the cryptocurrency industry in its most recent episode, which aired as part of the show’s 27th season. The installment uses satire to link Trump with crypto-friendly officials and tech figures while lampooning broader trends in artificial intelligence.

Titled “Sickofancy,” the episode opens with scenes of high-profile tech executives and government figures lining up in the Oval Office to flatter the president and present him with gifts—most notably Bitcoin. Among the caricatured figures shown are representations of well-known tech leaders and a venture capitalist now working in the White House crypto and AI space.

Alongside the political jabs, the episode’s central storyline skewers overreliance on AI. One subplot follows a cannabis farmer who, after an ICE raid, pivots his business into an AI startup based on a flimsy piece of machine-generated advice. That same in-episode AI then counsels the character to ingratiate himself with Trump in order to get cannabis reclassified—a plot device used to blend the show’s tech satire with its political commentary.

The show also weaves in recurring South Park gags about Trump, including exaggerated portrayals of his public actions and the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, D.C. The episode continues the series’ long-standing habit of using shock and absurdity to lampoon public figures and current events.

South Park’s latest season premiere and its follow-up episodes prompted an official rebuke from the White House, which criticized the series’ depiction of the president and described the program in dismissive terms. The response became part of the broader media conversation around the show’s politically pointed humor.

The series has previously mocked aspects of the crypto world in past seasons, from joking takes on celebrity crypto endorsements to episodes that satirized non-fungible tokens and the idea of Bitcoin as mainstream money. Those earlier segments are part of a pattern in which South Park mixes pop-culture references with sharp commentary on finance and tech trends.

As with many of its recent installments, this episode blends topical satire about technology, politics and celebrity, reinforcing South Park’s role as a cultural barometer that often provokes reactions from both audiences and public officials.
