Spot bitcoin ETFs pull in nearly $1 billion in a single day, the most in 11 months
BlackRock's IBIT led a wave of institutional buying as bitcoin ETFs recorded their largest daily inflow since October, coinciding with bitcoin's break above $82,000.
US spot bitcoin ETFs took in $998.95 million on Monday, just short of the $1 billion mark and the largest single-day haul in 11 months. BlackRock's IBIT led with $381.4 million, followed by Ark and 21Shares' ARKB at $289.1 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $238.8 million, with Grayscale, Bitwise and Morgan Stanley also posting positive flows.
What set it off
The inflow lines up with bitcoin clearing $82,000, a level that had capped the market in prior weeks. One ViaBTC analyst noted the break triggered systematic trading strategies that fed on themselves, compounding into a short squeeze that liquidated roughly $844 million in bearish bets. Bitcoin briefly touched $87,300 — its highest since January — before settling near $85,400. Spot ether ETFs had their own strong day too, pulling in $269.98 million, their best showing since early October last year.
The bigger picture
Falling oil prices, easing Treasury yields, and optimism ahead of a potential Trump-Xi meeting all fed into the same risk-on mood. The scale of the move — the largest ETF inflow day since October 6, 2025's $1.2 billion — suggests institutional desks that had stayed on the sidelines through September's weakness came back in size once the technical picture flipped.
